21 Jan MERSİN ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM

The Artist-in-Residence program in Mersin was held between January 14^th and 21^st, 2020. Murat Germen was the conducting artist-in-residence of the program, while the participating artists-in-residence selected through the open call were Eyhan Çelik, Rafet Arslan and Sinan Kılıç. Mersin based artists Abdulla Sert, Ahmet Karabulak, Bengisu Muazzez Kurtuluş, Murat Çiçek, Nilgün Yardımcı and Taner Tunga contributed to the program as well.

Murat Germen worked for three days in public spaces with the participating artists and contributing Mersin based artists. Then, for four days, through the effective use of the exhibition space, the artists worked on various dimensions and subjects such as city, memory, architecture and public space, cultural heritage, and shared the material they collected in the format of collage / montage / assemblage. The program was finalized with an exhibition titled “About Mersin” at Atatürk Cultural Center of Yenişehir Municipality on the 20^th of January. The exhibition opening event was highly attended by civil society members, academics and public representatives from Mersin.
