12 Oct COORDINATION VISIT TO MARDIN

The visit was realized by Ali M. Demirel, conducting artist of Daire Mardin Artist-in-Residence Program, accompanied by Recep Tuna, member of the project team on October 10-12, 2019. The aim of the visit which was guided by the Mardin based artist initiative 13 m2 Art Collective was to determine the needs and possibilities regarding the artist-in-residence program to be implemented in the city.

Meetings with Artuklu Municipality representative and Mardin Artuklu University representative were held. Deyrulzafaran, Dara, Midyat, Mor Gabriel and Hasankeyf were visited. In addition, for understanding the situation in traditional handicrafts, Mardin Museum Ceramics Studio, coppersmiths’ and felt artisans’ bazaar were visited. Ali M. Demirel also had the opportunity to comment on the Mardin based artists’ portfolios. The information gained and observations made during the visit, provided input for shaping the artist-in-residence implementation.
