HATAY ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM

The Artist-in-Residence program in Hatay was held between February 3rd and 11th of 2020 in collaboration with Hatay Metropolitan Municipality, co-beneficiary of the project. Gülçin Aksoy was the conducting artist-in-residence of the program, while the participating artists-in-residence selected through the open call were Tuğçe Ulugün Tuna, Harika Esra Oskay-Malicki and Erdal Sezer.

In the first days of the program, guest artists visited historical and cultural locations in Hatay, such as the Hatay Archaeology Museum, Necmi Asfuroğlu Archaeology Museum, the historical Titus Tunnel and Uzun Çarşı. They used the room allocated to them in the HATMEK Course Center of Hatay Metropolitan Municipality as their studio throughout the program.

Four guest artists from different disciplines, namely painting, visual arts, and contemporary dance produced various works, influenced by the historical, natural, cultural and social features of the city and based on their personal experience during a week in Hatay. These works from the participating artists from İstanbul, Çanakkale and Ankara were presented through an exhibition at the HATMEK conference hall on the 10th of February.
