COORDINATION VISIT TO HATAY

The coordination visit to Hatay was realized by Gülçin Aksoy, conducting artist of the artist-in-residence program in Hatay, accompanied by Begüm Tatari, member of the project team in November 6-8, 2019. The purpose of the visit was to make a preliminary examination and meet with stakeholders before the artist-in-residence program in Hatay, in order to determine the context and needs of the program.

Representatives of the project’s co-beneficiary in the city, Hatay Metropolitan Municipality, guided the visit. Meetings were held with the Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism, Branch Director of the Directorate of Culture and Tourism, academics and students of Mustafa Kemal University Faculty of Fine Arts and Former Mayor of Reyhanlı Municipality. The Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism offered alternative venues for having an exhibition as part of the artist-in-residence program. The Former Mayor of Reyhanlı provided information about the socio-economic and cultural structure of the province. Historical and cultural spots such as the provinces of Samandağ, Vakıflı and İskenderun, Hatay Archaeology Museum, Vespasianus Titus Tunnel, St. Simeon Monastery, The Museum Hotel and Uzun Çarşı were also visited.
